Inclusive Business Scan (IBS)

The Inclusive Business Scan is a SenseMaker®-based approach to gain insights into inclusive business principles within a smallholder supply chain. By collecting the experiences of many smallholder farmers on the inclusivity of a supply chain, self-interpreted at the point of origin, the Inclusive Business Scan offers a practical tool for organizing real-time feedback from smallholder farmers in formal markets. 

The Inclusive Business Scan relies on the collection of micro-narratives from smallholder farmers, their organisations, and their leaders. Based on five main inclusive business principles, Rikolto designed a set of questions for the storytellers to signify their own stories. The IB Scan is based on the principles and practices of SenseMaker®, a narrative-based research tool that comes with software packages for collection and analysis.
