Typical Use Case

The ecoregion maps can be used to distinguish distinct units of freshwater biodiversity to be represented in conservation efforts. For instance, progress toward the establishment of representative networks of freshwater protected areas can now be measured using ecoregions as a proxy for finer-scale global species or habitat distribution data.
